Crofthead Biogas

Deal Overview

Crofthead Biogas processes up to 100,000 tonnes of slurries, cattle manure, energy crops and dairy residues and will generate 8MWh electrical power equivalent of gas.

The majority of the feedstock comes from Crofthead farm, a large dairy farm, and the neighbouring farm, Auchengibbert, which is a large beef farm. The facility produces PAS110 accredited digestate which will be used as a bio-fertiliser on local farm lands.

The plant is accredited for the new biomethane RHI tariff and benefits from the government’s Feed in Tariff (FIT), which like RHI is a 20 year indexed linked subsidy that is part of the government’s programme to support renewable energy projects in the UK.

The project was delivered by BioConstruct GmbH and is operated by Biogas Power Ltd, one of Scotland’s leading providers of innovative solutions for on-farm and energy from waste AD facilities.
