Deal Overview
Cothen Biogas, located in the Netherlands, is a gas-to-grid facility using a PurePac membrane upgrader with an onsite carbon capture facility. It has a thermal installed capacity of 98.2 GWh p.a. delivering up to 1150 m3/hr gas injection rate.
The plant is registered under the Gas SDE subsidy scheme although is expected to operate on an unsubsidised basis only using the SDE as a floor price. The principle feedstock of the plant is animal manure which is supplied under long term contracts with local farms.
The plant was built by BioValue in 2024 and acquired by Kanadevia Inova in 2025 who committed additional funding to expand the plant and add a carbon capture unit that will improve the Red II CI score from -21 gCO2/MJ to -52 gCO2/MJ.
