North West Biomass

Deal Overview

NWBL reached financial close in July 2016. NWBL purchased a biomass CHP plant and drying infrastructure to enable it to dry FSC certified wood chip to be used to manufacture wood pellets and Briquettes.

The premise of the investment was that NWBL would dry wood chip for Newbridge Energy which would be the manufacturing centre for pellets and Briquettes. NWBL receives the government subsidies associated with the drying process.

The biomass CHP was provided by Uniconfort srl, an Italian company with over 60 years’ experience in the technological sector of solid biomass energy transformation. The drying equipment was provided by Stela Laxhuiber GmbH, that has for over nearly 100 years supplied over 4000 dryers to clients in over 60 countries worldwide.

The plant produces 16,000 tonnes per annum of dried wood chip for pellet and Briquette production.
